Is there a skunk in your future?

I recently ran into an article on skunks where the author had a biochemist break down why skunk odor is so difficult to eradicate. Here is the formula that was suggested: 1 cup of FRESH hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, 1 tsp of liquid dish detergent; mix and apply to fur and let stand for 5 minutes, then thoroughly rinse until nolonger soapy. Give it a try.

I have never had to face this personally, but I have seen this same formula in several places as the ONLY thing that really works. A good recommendation in one of the articles was to keep the necessary materials to make the solution in your truck when you go. Otherwise you will have to wait until you get home to use it, which could make for a very long ride!
