Only snow hunt of the year

Only snow hunt of the yearNovember 3, 2006 we awoke with six inches of fresh snow. The snow was gone the following day and never returned! We still managed to do pretty good with the ducks. I doubled on the two drake mallards and my hunting partner shot the buffle head. What in the world a buffle head was doing in such a small swamp I'll never know. As we were picking up the decoys a large group of mallards came by for a peak. With them were a pair of blacks. Despite both of us standing in the midle of the decoys the blacks came back for three or four passes. On the last pass we each took a bird. Mine is on his way to the taxidermist along with a pair of drake old squaws I got out in Niagara Falls.
