Tall Tales

Training Challenge

Many of you know that Pam trained Miss Fox to the Utility level in NAVHDA, and is currently working on an AKC Rally title. But did you know that she is also working with a Mr. Fox? The natural ability is already at a highly developed degree, but there have been significant training challenges to deal with.

Sea Ducks in Upstate NY

Here you go Rob, a tall tail. Every word of it true, although I conveniently left out most of the misses! ---------------------------------------

Springrove Quail Hunt

Pam and I were at Springrove Plantation north of Charleston for a quail hunt last week. We had 40 birds a day for five days. The weather was ideal: 30's at night and 50's during the day. The dogs hunted a variety of cover from pine savannas to marshes. I used a 20ga in addition to a 16 with .410 gage reducers that gave a skeet pattern. By the end of five days, the dogs were coming back on the run and I managed to shoot pretty well.

75 Bird Day

Pam and I recently participated in our first tower shoot at the Vernon Shooting Preserve. We volunteered Fox and Quill as retrievers at separate stations that were shared by two guns.
